Pastor Ronny Holmes has been the Commissioned Lay pastor at Manly Church since March 2012.

“When I first became the pastor of Manly, I had not a clue about how to Pastor a Church. What I did have though, was a desire to see each person attending, develop a personal relationship with Christ.”

 I have in the past, and maybe you have also, heard numerous Sermons preached which were based on the Word of God, but were delivered in a manner that was ‘over the head’ of most of the persons in the congregation. The Book of Nehemiah offers a different perspective and I have tried with God’s help to follow this pattern. Nehemiah 8:7-8, 12 says,

‘7 The Levites instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there. 8 They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read. 12 Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.’

When the Word of God is heard and understood, there will be fruit produced. It is exciting to see people’s ‘eyes light up, hearts opened, and most importantly, Bibles being opened and read,’ as they enrich their personal relationship with Christ.
